2015 Rocky Mountain Airshow at Aurora Reservoir. Everything with wings and an engine is shown off at this weekend air show, with presentations, model rocketry, kids activities and a demonstration by the US Air Force Thunderbirds. There will be hands-on activities and drone flying, aerobatic performers, musical and dance performances, and even fireworks. Plus plenty of food vendors and exhibitors with booths to browse through.

Denver Comic Con at the Colorado Convention Center; Downtown Denver Arts Festival at Sculpture Park; ArtStir at the Denver Pavilions; and Denver Day of Rock on the 16th Street Mall. Denver will be abuzz with activity this holiday weekend with four huge and fantastic events. Denver Comic Con kicks off with Opening Ceremonies on Friday evening, and continues through Monday with hundreds panels, workshops, exhibitors and guests from a host of popular arts including comic books, board and video games, anime, cosplay sci-fi, movies, television and literature. Downtown Denver Arts Festival celebrates its 17th year as a fine arts and crafts festival showcasing a select group of Colorado and national artists. It runs Friday afternoon through Sunday. ArtStir takes place Saturday and Sunday and features more than 140 local and regional artists showcasing a variety of works in painting, photography, illustration, textiles, furnishings, and mixed media. Finally, Denver Day of Rock happens Saturday afternoon and evening and offers free shows from great local and national acts. The shows, featuring such artists as Mat Kearney and St. Paul & The Broken Bones, happen on stages spread along 16th Street Mall.

MSCO and The Narrators traded music and stories, respectively, for each group of performers to respond to, and the result will be an evening of true stories and majestic orchestral soundtracking. There are two chances to see Two-Way Street: Friday at Augustana Lutheran Church and Saturday at the McNichols Civic Center Building as part of the Denver Music Summit.

Art Directors Club of Denver 11th Annual Paper Fashion Show at Bindery on Blake. The ADCD Paper Fashion Show is the largest paper fashion show in the nation and all for a great cause. Design teams from all industries and backgrounds come together for this event to showcase their creative and innovative talents. Partial proceeds from the show benefit Downtown Aurora Visual Arts, a community-based arts education program for at-risk youth ages 3 to 17. Ticket holders will get the chance to see dozens of breath-taking, original, paper-based designs take to the runway and compete for top awards.

While most markets start up in May or June, there are a few that begin the first weekend of April to take full advantage of Colorado’s sunny days. Whether you’re a tourist to town, or a resident of one of the many neighborhoods or cities lucky enough to have a weekly market of your own, these gatherings of organic farmers, bakers, florists, artisans, and more are the perfect place to pick up some produce, peruse the peonies, or purchase a few presents.

Since 1984, the heritage of American Indians has been celebrated in Denver every year at the Denver March Powwow, one of the largest events of its kind in the country. In addition to the dances performances, there will be singing, storytelling, food, art and more.
