StarFest at the Denver Marriott DTC and Denver Hilton Garden Inn. StarFest celebrates all things fantasy, science fiction and proudly geeky with a three-day festival of games, films, parties and more. It’s your chance to see and wear great costumes, browse through thousands of collectible items and memorabilia, attend live performances and panels, and talk face-to-face with actors, directors, producers, writers, illustrators, scientists, and special affects artists including special guests Christian Serratos (Walking Dead, Twilight Saga), Michael Welch (Z Nation, Twilight Saga), and Richard Dean Anderson (MacGyver, Stargate: SG1)

2-LincolnParkSpotLight Lincoln Park
Friday, 4/17, 5 – 9pm

Selena Lookalike Contest and Karaoke at Chicano Humanities & Arts Council. More than just a Tejano singing sensation, Selena was a cross-cultural superstar and global icon when she was killed in 1995. Tonight, as part of the Chicano Humanities and Arts Council’s month-long “Selena Quintanilla: Dreaming of You” art show and celebration, the gallery will become a hub for living tributes with a lookalike contest and karaoke event devoted to the pop star. There will also be dancing, face painting and arts and crafts for the kids.

SpotLight City Park & Sloan’s Lake
Saturday, 4/18, 9am – noon
Earth Day Yard Tree Sale at City Park Greenhouse and Sloan Lake Park. Plant a tree in your yard to add color, shade, or fruit to your landscape! The Park People’s annual Earth Day Yard Tree Sale offers great deals and supports the hundreds of low-cost trees they distribute to Denver residents each year. Trees are available in limited quantities and are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Rodeo All-Star 5K Run at National Western Complex. Experience rodeo in a whole new way at the first-ever Rodeo All-Star Run! Begin your experience at the start line on the floor of the Rodeo All-Star Events Center arena. At the gun, race through the Bucking Chutes on your way to the stables, where you’ll run by the bucking horses and their riders in the Bucking Horse Zone. Test your agility as you gallop through the Barrel Racing Zone, and check out the Rodeo Clowns and other fun in the Specialty Act Zone. Finish up your run and stay to enjoy the Rodeo All-Star Fantasy with plenty of country music, mechanical bull rides, interactive games and loads of food and fun for the whole family.

SpotLight Lakewood
Saturday, 4/18, 10am – 3pm
City of Lakewood Earth Day Celebration at Lakewood Heritage Center. This free community event is organized by the Employees’ Committee for a Sustainable Lakewood and was created to showcase companies, agencies and organizations that provide products, services, resources and information for residents to make more sustainable choices. Special attractions at the event include a climbing wall, 40 West kids’ art activity, beekeeping demonstration and more.

Saturday, 4/18, noon – 7pm

Spring Flea at Bindery on Blake. Your coolest friend’s favorite market, the Denver Flea, returns with a full day of shopping, beer drinking, food eating, music listening and more “fleakin’” good times. The event is free and if you RSVP in advance, you get a free New Belgium craft beer and the chance to win a New Belgium cruiser bike!

Chefs Up Front at Colorado Convention Center, Mile High Ballroom. Chefs Up Front is a culinary extravaganza you won’t want to miss! Join Colorado’s top chefs as they prepare an elaborate meal table side for you and your guests, showcasing the style and cuisine of their restaurants. Hosted by Bobby Valentino, this month’s match features wrestlers Sammy Six Guns Jr., Aiden Young, and Xander Kreed and comedians Preston Tompkins, Mara Wiles, Bobby Crane, and more and is FREE!
