Friday, 5/2, 6pm
FIRST First Friday at Denver Tool Library. The Denver Tool Library is celebrating its FIRST First Friday with an elegant open house to showcase its newly established shop. This premier soirée will open the library’s tool selection for perusing during your evening Santa Fe art saunter. Socialize with fellow tool enthusiasts, dine on the candlelit back patio, and play a round of Kubb, Beersbee, or Cornhole accompanied by jazz, hors d’oeuvres, and spirits. After the formal festivities, switch to your jiving shoes and cut loose to music videos projected on an outdoor screen!

2-WashParkSpotLight Wash Park West
Saturday, 5/2, 9am

Dumb Friends League Furry Scurry at Washington Park. The Furry Scurry has become an annual tradition for many Denver-area residents. The two-mile walk for animals is the Dumb Friends League’s largest annual fundraiser, drawing more than 12,000 people and 5,000 dogs to the Park. Participants enjoy refreshments, contest, demonstrations, and more than 150 pet-related sponsors and vendors at the “Flea-less Market.”

SpotLight Golden Triangle
Satuday, 5/2 & Sunday, 5/3, 10am – 9pm
Cinco de Mayo Festival in Civic Center Park. This popular festival returns for its 28th year with affordable fun for the whole family. Live entertainment, special attractions, the Children’s Carnival, a parade, and great food mean there’s something for everyone! Highlights include the 5th Annual Jammin’ 101.5 Chihuahua Races and 3rd Annual “Que Bueno Mexican Grille” Taco Eating Contest. There’s also a Champion Lowrider exhibit, Zumba, and a Mariachi Mass.

Saturday, 5/2, 10am – 10pm
2nd Annual Morrison Alley Fest in Morrison. This one-day spectacular event revolves around community building, music and art. Come out and experience the town of Morrison. There will be 20+ musicians performing on three stages, multiple local artists displaying their work, and vendors with deals you won’t want to pass up. A large kids’ carnival area and family fun spot will be set up near Bear Creek Care Center. Join in and celebrate Morrison and the amazing talent that is drawn to the area.

SpotLight RiNo/Five Points
Saturday, 5/2, noon – 7:30pm
Return of TheBigWonderful at 2500 Lawrence Street. Celebrate the return of summer early! TheBigWonderful is an outdoor sustainable market that blends food, flea and entertainment. The market features a large outdoor craft beer garden built out of a storage container, beach volleyball, an urban farm, full stage and more. Built for the whole family, the event is cool enough for everyone. With a smorgasbord of vendors, this event is a catalyst for small business and a unique shopping experience for all.

SpotLight Congress Park
Saturday, 5/2, 1:30 – 9pm

Kentucky Derby Party at The Bar Car. “Talk Derby to Me,” The Bar Car’s 5th annual Kentucky Derby Party features mint juleps, a best hat contest, games, prizes and food. It also includes live music from That Damn Sasquatch, Waitin on Ray, and Kerry Pastine & The Crime Scene. The carnival-style shindig will rage indoors and out . Tickets are $10 and a portion of the proceeds will go to support the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s “Team in Training.”

Home Run for the Homeless at Coors Field. Sign up for the Colorado Rockies Home Run for the Homeless 5k Run/Walk and enjoy a scenic downtown course and lap around the warning track of Coors Field! Kids can join in the fun at the Kids Run Run, a non-competitive 1k event that will circle around the warming track as well. The entire family can get the players’ field perspective as to you run or walk to a great post-race party and entertainment including free food, beverages, games & prizes. All registrants receive a t-shirt and voucher redeemable for two complimentary Rockies tickets!

Sunday, 5/3, 9am – 3pm
Star Wars at the Hangar at Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum. May the Fourth might still be a day away, but if you need to brush up on your Jedi moves, join in for this Force-filled event. Star Wars fans of all ages can enjoy mingling with costumed characters, testing their aim at Blast-a-Trooper, stepping into their favorite Star Wars scenes with Green Screen Adventures, creating their own Star Wars creature in the Galactic Zoology Nursery, visiting Denver Comic Con and the Comic Book Classroom and sketching their own comic character to life, and watching intergalactic battles unfold in a Star Wars miniature game tournament.

Sunday, 5/3, 7:30 – 9:30pm

Flower Full Moon Hike at Bear Creek Lake Park. The darkness of night provides a unique backdrop for a hiking adventure. So leave those flashlights at home and hone your night vision as a park naturalist guides you along the trails of Bear Cree Lake Park and the surrounding green spaces. These hikes are designed for the whole family, but keep in mind it will be about an hour-and-a-half of walking and observing.
